Madison, Wisc. — Sub-Zero has launched its first blog, and it's dedicated to wine. The Sub-Zero Wine Blog, located at www.subzerowine.com, was created to give readers “a direct conduit to a wealth of knowledge about all things wine,” including advice on pairings, recommended vineyards and restaurants, and proper storage. Contributors include wine connoisseurs Andrea Immer Robinson, Michael Green and Anthony Dias Blue. “Our mission is to continually innovate, and fostering a dialogue through a wine blog will help us stay focused on the leading edge and new thinking in wine,” said Sub-Zero CEO Jim Bakke.
Ruidoso, N.M. — Thermador's kitchen appliance platform has been chosen for a new luxury condominium development nearing completion here in Southern New Mexico. The $84 million, 14-acre project, called River Crossing at Ruidoso, features a mix of high-end retail outlets and restaurants and 102 residential units in four buildings. Each kitchen will be customized with Thermador's Freeedom Collection modular refrigeration columns; a 36-inch stainless steel cooktop feature five Thermador Star Burners; a 30-inch SEMW triple oven that combines a microwave, warming drawer and convection oven; a 36-inch stainless steel ventilation hood; and an Energy Star qualified dishwasher. The first model condos open this month, with the final phase of construction to be completed next year.
Sioux City, Iowa — Karl's TV & Appliance is folding its two Sioux City stores into a single retail, service and warehousing center this fall. The company said its Pierce Street location will close in advance of its lease expiration on Oct. 1, and its warehouse and service functions will be moved to the chain's two-year-old Sergeant Road showroom, which will be expanded to accordingly. There will be no staff reductions as a result of the consolidation, which will provide a more convenient, one-stop solution for customers, the company said.
Brooklyn, N.Y. — Haier America sponsored this year's AVP Brooklyn Open Volleyball Tournament, a professional competition held here last month in Coney Island and televised by NBC Sports. Haier supported the beach event to publicize its licensed Amana-branded Home Comfort room air conditioner line, which was prominently featured in an on-site “Amana Cool Zone” tent courtesy of local majap chain P.C. Richard & Son. Haier also held an AC giveaway, awarding a 6,000 Btu Amana model to one lucky winner.
