LG Launches ‘Turbo’ Washer At Celebrity Charity Event

LOS ANGELES –

LG Electronics formally launched its
new high-capacity TurboWash washer at a
celebrity-filled charity event here last month
co-hosted by actress Christina Applegate.

The fundraiser benefitted Appelgate’s
Right Action for Women (RAW), a charitable
services fund that helps remove the financial
obstacles some women face when accessing
breast cancer screenings.

The washer, which began shipping mid-
June, is described by LG as the industry’s
largest capacity front-loader. Its 5.1-cubic-foot
drum allows consumers to wash more clothes
per load, including large, bulky items like a
king-sized comforter set, while its TurboWash
feature combines the spin and rinse cycles to
cut the cycle time by 20 minutes per load without
sacrificing performance, LG said.

The event, dubbed “20 Magic Minutes
… A Family Celebration,” brought celebrity
moms, dads, kids and Hollywood insiders together at a
private Beverly Hills residence where they participated in
family-focused activities like spin art and baking. Each of
the activities can be shared by parents and children in the
20 minutes it takes to complete a TurboWash wash cycle,
underscoring the model’s time-saving benefits.

Celebrities were also invited to autograph TurboWash
laundry pairs, which will be auctioned to benefit
RAW. Applegate established the organization
in partnership with the Entertainment
Industry Foundation in 2008 after receiving a
breast cancer diagnosis and opting for a preventive
(prophylactic) double mastectomy.

“I am so grateful to LG for their generous
support of Right Action for Women,” Applegate
said in a statement. “This is a wonderful
event to illustrate the importance of spending
time with family and friends.”

The washer also features LG’s 6Motion technology,
which utilizes six wash motions in varying
combinations — tumbling, scrubbing, filtration,
rolling, stepping and swinging — for deep
detergent penetration. In addition, a Smart
Diagnosis feature helps diagnose and troubleshoot
mechanical issues via over-the-phone
signals to limit costly and inconvenient service
visits, while a downloadable smartphone app can alert customers
to simple problems.

The washer is priced to hit a suggested retail of $1,399
in white and $1,499 in graphite, and is available at majap
dealers nationwide.
