GE Appliances has kicked off a unique -- for that company -- pre-order program for its new Advantium speed-cooking oven.
An advance-purchase program launched September 3 will run through October 9; consumers who buy the Advantium oven during that period can buy with no down payment, no interest and no payments until next April.
First introduced at last January's Builders Show, a 30-inch, over-the-range Advantium oven is due in retail stores next month, expected to sell in the $1,299-$1,399 range. A built-in model will be introduced early next year. Both require a 240V dedicated electric line to operate.
The Advantium oven is being sold through independent appliance retailers, builders and Sears. Retailers will be offering consumers live demonstrations of the oven's Speedcook feature beginning in October.
GE has also established an Internet site -- www.geadvantium.com -- just for this new product. The site offers information about the oven's halogen technology, as well as a listing of nearby retailers carrying the product accessed by ZIP code; messages pop up periodically telling what types of food could have been cooked in the Advantium oven during the time the visitor has been exploring the site.
This TWICE webinar, hosted by senior editor Alan Wolf, will take a look at what may be the hottest CE products at retail that will be sold during the all-important fourth quarter. Top technologies, market strategies and industry trends will be discussed with industry analysts and executives.
