Consumers: Dishwashers Second To Kids In Noise

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIF. –

A recent national survey
fielded by Impulse Research on behalf of Bosch revealed
two major consumer misperceptions about dishwashers.

According to the survey, 38 percent of Americans believe
their dishwashers are the loudest noisemakers in the household,
coming in just behind the sounds of their children, and
just ahead of their spouses, domestic partners or roommates.

“While we can’t control noise made by kids, significant
others or roommates, quiet dishwashers like those from
Bosch certainly reduce the noise level,” said Bosch brand
manager Micaela Shaw. For example, the company’s Bosch
800 Plus dishwasher, which it touts as the quietest in North
America, operates at a virtually silent 39 dBA thanks to 18
unique sound-reducing technologies, she said.

Another dishwasher myth: that washing dishes by
hand saves more water than using a dishwasher, a belief
held by almost half of Americans, although dishwashers
save up to 85 percent more water when compared with
hand washing.

Of those surveyed, more than a third overestimated
and thought that it takes six gallons of water to wash a
normal-sized load of dishes in the dishwasher, compared
with two to three gallons with a Bosch dishwasher.
