Mega Offers Mattress Program

Germantown, Tenn. – Mega Group USA is offering a turnkey Serta mattress program designed to ease dealers’ entry into the high-margin category.

The national buying group for independent furniture, mattress, appliance and CE dealers introduced the program earlier this month in Louisville, Ky., at its biannual convention.

The America’s Mattress Gallery program provides a 1,200-square-foot display consisting of 16 SKU placements, including Serta’s popular iComfort, iSeries, Sleep To Go, Dreamhaven and Dreamhaven Elite Perfect Sleeper lines. More than half the models are Mega Group exclusives priced to retail from $299 to $999, which provides members “generous margins,” the group said.

The turnkey package offering includes more than $35,000 in products and displays, and qualified candidates will receive launch support, training, business analytics, advertising and local field support. In addition, attendees at the convention were able to receive a $2,500 advertising bonus.

“This gallery program provides our members yet another competitive advantage in the market place,” said Jerry Honea, Mega’s COO and furniture division manager. “We have already identified over 30 qualified candidates for the gallery and expect to start installing very soon.”

In other Mega news, the group also launched at the convention a product protection program for furniture members, and a four-part, low-cost online training module designed to improve sales, business management, customer service and personal development. The program requires staff certification and offers the opportunity to earn the cost back upon completion of the one-year process.

Other new business service launches included a profit-management promotions program to assist dealers in creating long-term promotional events featuring special show-only deals with GE Capital, Why Not Lease It, Capital Solutions and TCFIF.

“Assisting our members with strategic and cost-efficient means to run the operations of their business is a priority for us,” noted Mega’s business services director Mallory Parker. “These new services are designed to help them grow their business while spending less time on running the business and more time with their customers.”

Mega president Rick Bellows added that he was “extremely pleased” with the success of the Louisville show. “Our vendor partners [said] attendance and dealer participation was the best they had ever seen [and] we had a great response to the appliance manufacturers’ product training, furniture roundtables featuring peer reviews and discussions, and outstanding attendance at all the workshops and sales mentoring sessions.”

Mega will next convene March 9-12, 2013, in Dallas.
