Furniture, Mounts Take Center Stage For CEDIA Accessories

INDIANAPOLIS —

With all the TVs, A/V receivers
and speakers planned to debut at the CEDIA Expo
this week, mount and furniture manufacturers know
that consumers are going to need some way to house
and display them.

Chief

will use CEDIA to show off its recently announced
additions to its Raxxess series of A/V rack
systems: the G1 series gangable rack and the W1 and
W2 series on-wall racks.

The G1 features pre-welded ganging nuts and easily
accessible hardware, Chief said, as well as adjustable
front and rear rack rails; optional doors that are reversible,
locking, and fit either the front or rear of the rack;
cable-management slots integrated into the horizontal
rack rail; and packaging designed to cushion the back
of the rack for lay-down loading.

The W1 series of hinged wall racks swing out from
the wall on either side for easy access to cabling, Chief
said, and the remote rear latch gives users the ability to
mount racks side-by-side or in a corner. It can support
up to 300 pounds.

The W2 series of fixed wall racks can hold up to 150
pounds and come with a reversible solid-steel locking
front door and rear-mounting plate. A 3U panel in the top
is meant to allows users to add any standard fan panel.

Both the W1 and W2 ship with all required hardware
to mount to wood studs, steel studs or concrete. Pricing
info will be available at the show.

Future Automation

, a U.K.-based company, will be
at CEDIA to show off its Sliding Panel System (SPS).
Offered in two choices, the SPS is designed to allow
complete concealment of flat-panel televisions.

The systems have a dual-motor construction meant to
lets flat panels sit completely flush with the wall. It reportedly
takes a panel inward and moves it out of sight
behind the surrounding panel work before advancing
the screen to fit flush with the wall, the company said.

Two sizes are available: the SPS800 is meant for flat
panels from 26 to 50 inches, while the SPS1200 is for
flat panels measuring 50 to 65 inches.

Middle Atlantic Products

said it’s introducing a
Millwork Kit option for its C5 Series Credenza Rack
system. It includes a complete hardware kit and USB
flash drive with all drawings and instructions needed
for the millworker to customize woodwork to be used
with the C5 frame kit, the
company said.

Comprised of a steel
rack core and outer wood
panels, the C5 also now
incorporates many other
new features based on the
requests and feedback
of the company’s
integration partners,
Middle Atlantic
said, including
monitor mounts
for most 32- to 50-
inch screens.

Other new options
are shelf system
inserts, slideout
recycling and waste receptacles, and flip-up sides
that offer additional surface space.

NextGen

mounts. Four models are available:

• 1320 ($24.95) with a max VESA 200 by 200 and
suitable for screen sizes 17 to 37 inches;

needed for mounting.

Omnimount

the show, including what it’s calling the CE industry’s
first interactive TV wall mount with Ergotron CFT technology.
The ActionMount features Constant Force technology,
said to “bring a new element of weight adjustability
that gives consumers effortless lift, pivot and tilt
functionality at price points that will provide retailers the
highest accessory attachment rates to their TV sales.”

Joel Hazzard, CEO and president of Ergotron, said
in a statement, “Today people are interacting with their
displays and TVs, and we are bringing tremendous
products to market that exceed what the consumers
want. Consumer will now be able to move their display
to suit multiple applications — from gaming to optimal
viewing for 3DTVs with effortless repositioning for
whatever the application.”

More details on the mount will be available at the
show.

ProMounts

is debuting its Superflat wall mount,
meant to mount flat-screen TVs just 0.43 inches from
the wall.

It attaches to two studs up to 24 inches apart and
can mount TVs measuring 30 to 63 inches.

The mount is VESA compliant and comes with a fully
assembled mounting plate. An EZlock system is designed
to securely lock the screen and also works as
theft prevention. Pricing wasn’t given.

Salamander Designs

said it would show a new line
of cabinets in its A/V Basics line. The company said
while in the past it has offered products that are customizable
and available in many different configurations, this
time it decided to go a different way and “defined a line
that combines popular styles with features known to enhance
the performance of most audio/video systems.”

The A/V Basics line ships full assembled. Features
include remote-friendly doors with premium soft close
hinges, built-in ventilation louvers for better air flow to
keep equipment cool, removable rear panels for easy
access to components and wiring, and raceways for
managing and concealing cables.

There are three models in the line: SDAV1, with framed
wooden doors and available in three configurations;
SDAV2, with recessed glass top and cabinet
door fronts, offered in two configurations; and
SDAV3, a cabinet with two sliding doors that
allow for open shelves on either end.

Pricing wasn’t given.

Sanus

will show a mount adapter meant
to allow easy attachment of an iPad 2 to
any TV wall mount that is VESA 100 by 100
compatible. The VisionMount VMA302 features
a custom-molded design; a release
tab for quick device removal; and the company’s
Virtual Axis 3D cup-shaped faceplate,
which makes it possible to achieve portrait
and landscape positions. This last feature is
compatible only with Sanus mount models
MF202, MF209, MF215, MC1A and MD115,
the company said.

It’s currently available for a list price of
$34.99.
