NEW YORK — Philips this month
announced several new additions to its
accessories lines.
Included in the company-wide
product launch, Philips announced
a line of new headphones that
are geared toward the younger consumer
and feature construction inspired by
designer O’Neill.
The top of the O’Neill line, at $99.99,
are the over-ear Stretch headphones.
Featuring a “flexible and tough” cushioned
headband, the pair have a design
that keep in line with O’Neill’s wetsuits.
Other elements include 40mm
drivers, neoprene padding, a tangle-free
cable and noise-isolating ear cushions.
The over-ear, “street art and digital
media”-inspired Snugs headphones also
have 400mm drivers, but they will retail
for $59.99. Features include tanglefree
cable, reinforced connectors and
noise-isolating ear cushions.
The Covert in-ear headphones
($49.99) have 13mm drivers, in-line control
and microphone, and noise-isolating
soft caps, while the Specked headphones
($29.99) have 9mm drivers, tangle-free
cable and colored silicon sleeves.
All of the headphones will be available
in September.
Meantime, Philips Pronto, the division
headquartered in Leuven, Belgium,
introduced a line of accessories designed
by Polar Bear Solutions, intended to enhance
the performance of the company’s
Pronto control products.
The new line consists of two wall
docking stations, a power sensor relay
and a video sensor.
The wall docks (models PBS9600W
and PBS9800W) are flush-mount
in-wall docks that allow the Pronto
TSU9600 and TSU9800 control panels
to be stored in wall, extending the possible
uses of the panels and allowing
the product to compete
with other more expensive solutions,
the company said.
The PBS9600W a llows
for the removal of the
TSU9600 from the wall.
A set of four buttons located
at the base of the dock can
be used for critical services regardless
of whether TSU9600
is charging in the dock or has been
left elsewhere in the room. These buttons
allow for integration into an existing
lighting control solution, such as
Lutron or iLight systems. They can also
be used to control a projector screen or
automate other home systems.
The PBS9800W flush-wall-mount
kit comes in two parts: the wall box
and the main caddy and frame. The bezel
can be removed to gain access to the
USB connector and power switch without
removing the entire unit
from the wall.
The power sensor relay
PBS1001S is a small device
that sits in line with the main
supply to a component such
as a DVD player, flat-screen
television or set-top box, and
monitors the current energy usage
of the device. The unit provides
physical feedback via an output contact
to indicate if the unit is on or in standby
mode. When used with Pronto’s
RFX9600 extenders sensor inputs, this
information can be used within a control
system to manage the power status
of devices or to be used to determine the
appropriate IR codes for control.
All three accessories are now available
through authorized U.S. Philips
Pronto distributors.
