LAS VEGAS -During CES, Vivitar Corp. introduced several digital cameras, in addition to announcing its entry into Vivitar-branded CE accessories.
The E-Cam 4, a compact digital camera with the ability to create video clips, is expected to retail for $99.99. It will be bundled with PhotoStudio 2.0 image-editing software and a TWAIN driver and will ship in the first quarter.
The E-Cam 4 features a focus-free lens and automatic exposure and can store 20 high-resolution images or 80 low-res images on its 2MB internal flash memory. It capture video clips at 10 frames per second when used with supplied cable.
Vivitar also demonstrated the E-Cam 5, a compact digicam targeted toward e-mailing images. The camera will begin shipping later in the year. Pricing was not available.
The ViviCam 3655 is a 2.3-megapixel digicam with a 1.8-inch LCD and 2x digital zoom. It takes Compact Flash removable media and four AA batteries. It begins shipping in the first quarter; pricing was not available at press time.
Also previewed at Vivitar’s CES booth was the Digi-35mm, a hybrid digital and 35mm film camera that will begin shipping in the spring with a suggested retail of $99.95.
The camera captures images on both the 35mm film and a CMOS sensor so users get a chance to preview their film pictures on their computer. The Digi-35mm stores image files on 2MB worth of internal memory and connects to a computer via a USB port.
As reported in TWICE, Jan. 6, p. 32, Vivitar announced that it will move into the CE accessories space, through partnerships with Lenmar Enterprises and STK International.
