Velocity Micro In Larger Quarters

High-end PC maker Velocity Micro has officially opened the doors on its new headquarters and manufacturing facility.

The 34,000-square-foot building will house the company’s office staff and production facilities. The new building is four times larger than Velocity’s old facility and is located just outside of the Richmond city limits in Chesterfield County, a short drive from its old building, a company spokesman said.

“Our most important differentiators are out expert production staff and in-house tech support. So when it came time to expand, staying here in Richmond was critical,” said Randy Copeland, company president and CEO.

The company employs 75 people.

Copeland said the company’s growth can be directly attributed to its partnership with Best Buy, which carries Velocity Micro computers in 270 of its stores, and a general increase in Velocity’s direct to consumer business.
