Velocity Micro Adds To Cruz Tablet Line

LAS VEGAS —

Velocity
Micro will introduce a new
tablet PC at International
CES this year, along with
a combo hard disk/optical
drive.

The tablet introduction
is comprised of a 7-inch
Android model.

The Cruz
T507.
The Cruz T507 is an
entry-level 7-inch tablet
that will carry a $150
suggested retail, and it is
schedule to ship in March.

It has a capacitive
touchscreen, runs Android
2.3 and fully supports
Adobe Flash.

Powered by a Cortex A8
1.2Ghz multicore processor,
the tablet has 512MB of DDR3 memory, 4GB
of internal storage and a 1.3-megapixel camera. It
supports 3D graphics acceleration.

The VMDrive Plus is a hybrid optical/HDD that
connects to a laptop or
desktop via its USB port.
It will ship during the first
quarter with a sub-$180
suggested retail price.

The device combines
a DVD burner, 500GB
SATA hard drive into one
unit. There is also an integrated
SD card reader
and three USB 2.0 ports.

Pricing and shipping
information was not available.

The company will also
demonstrate its new Shine
projector. The $400 is a
4-inch long projector with
1280 by 768 WXGA HD
output, a 300 lumen display and an HDMI output
for connection to most content carrying devices.

It will ship late in the first quarter or early in the
second quarter, the company said.
