Target Carrying iRiver E-Reader

NEW YORK —

The first e-reader to directly
connect to the Google eBookstore began
selling through Target on July 17.

The iRiver Story HD, which was introduced in
January, will carry a $139 price tag, the retailer
said. This is the first device
dedicated to the
Google e-Bookstore,
although Google’s
service is accessible
via a downloadable
reader for other devices.

The 7.3-ounce
iRiver Story HD
resembles Amazon’s
Kindle by
having a small
QWERTY keyboard
on the bottom
of the device.
It features a 1,024 by 768 resolution 6-inch E
Ink display, built-in Wi-Fi, a Freescale Arm processor,
a USB connection and an SD card slot.

The company claims a six-week battery life
on a single charge.
