Sonic The Hedgehog Marks 10th Anniversary

Sega of America gave Dreamcast system users cause to celebrate by recently releasing Sonic Adventure 2, marking the 10th-year anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, one of Sega’s most popular characters.

In addition, Sega announced a limited edition special bundle of a Dreamcast console system, and two popular Sonic titles Sonic Adventure and Sonic Shuffle, plus a Sonic blue visual memory unit and a demo version of the just released Sonic Adventure 2.

The package carries a $119.95 suggested retail price. Sonic Adventure 2, which is rated E (Everyone), is available nationwide for a $39.95 suggested retail.

John Golden, Sega marketing director, said the bundle of the recently discontinued game player will serve as “an instant collector’s package, providing consumers with hours of Sonic fun at a great value.”

The game includes a number of new, advanced features including a better than 60-frame-per second run speed, an assortment of six playable characters, over 30 action stages, and new moves including “grinding,” which allows characters to slide on their feet down long railings at very high speeds.

Also included is an “in-game worldwide Internet ranking system,” which allows players to rank their scores online from within the game at the push of a button, then compare them to scores around the world.

The title features two-player split-screen action for additional head-to-head challenges.
