New Qosmio In Toshiba’s Line

Toshiba will add to its Qosmio line of high-end entertainment notebook computers this week and introduce three mainstream models in the company’s Satellite series.

Toshiba has not established pricing or shipping, but it did release a few details on each of the products prior to CES.

The Qosmio G35-AV660 is said to have all the functionality of a Media Center desktop in the chassis of a large notebook computer. The unit is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and is equipped with a TV tuner and DVR functionality. The Qosmio comes with a 1-bit digital amplifier and features Dolby surround sound.

The three mainstream models are the P105-S9722, U205 and the A105.

The P105-S9722 is a gaming machine utilizing the same processor as the Qosmio. It has a 17W-inch display, weighs just over 7 pounds and is 1.4 inches high. The unit comes with an NVIDIA 256MB GeForce Go 7900 graphics card.

In the thin and light category Toshiba will show the U205. It weighs about 4 pounds and is shielded by the company’s LifeSmart technology that protects the unit from both physical harm by being extra durable with shock absorbing materials and data security by having a fingerprint reader.

For the consumer looking for an affordable notebook Toshiba will introduce the A105. With its 15.4-inch display, power, weight, size and features it falls in between the U205 and the P105.
