Dell debuted the new Axim X30 PDA series that is its first handheld to offer the Intel PXA270 624MHz processor — the fastest available.
In addition, the X30 series includes Dell’s first Bluetooth-equipped PDAs in two of the three units. Dell also plans to offer a Bluetooth keyboard within the next 30 to 60 days, as well as a Bluetooth GPS solution, said a spokeswoman.
Dell included Bluetooth in the new line because of the technology’s growing demand. “We’re seeing more momentum in several different areas — in mobile phones, in notebooks and now you can buy cars with Bluetooth,” said the spokeswoman.
The new Axim X30 is offered in a non-connected solution with 312MHz processor at $199. The step-up version adds Bluetooth and Wi-Fi at $249, after a $30 instant rebate, and the top-of-the-line model offers the 624MHz processor, as well as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, at $349. The first two models come with a PC synch cable while the top-line model offers a sync/recharging cradle.
All three configurations include built in Secure Digital I/O slot and 3.5-inch transflective color TFT with 240-by-320 (QVGA) resolution.
