Belkin, TDK Display Computer Accessories At CES

Belkin is lining up a series of computer and handheld accessories for the International CES, while TDK will show an expanded veloCD CD-RW line.

Belkin CES plans include showing a full line of USB 2.0 devices, including a 2-port PCI card, notebook computer card, a 4-port hub, that uses a new form factor, and a combination USB 2.0/Firewire PCI card.

In the peripherals area Belkin will have half a dozen UPS products on display, along with accessories for Sony Clie, Hewlett-Packard Jornada, Compaq iPAQ and Palm handheld computers. The UPS exhibit will include units delivering 350, 500, 650, 800, 1100 and 1200 volts. The handheld products will include a new sleeve for the iPAQ 3800 that contains a keyboard and CompactFlash port and clip-on keyboards for the iPAQ, Palm and Jornada.

TDK will focus on its CD-RW products. It will showcase a slim, portable veloCD with IEEE-1394 interface. Pricing and shipping were not available prior to CES.

TDK will update the industry on its development of MultiLevel (ML) recording technology for the CD-RW platform and demonstrate a prototype drive. ML, co-developed with chipmaker Calimetrics, triples the capacity of data and write speed CD-R and CD-RW discs to 2GB from 650MB. The speed jump is attained without increasing spindle speed. The technology was first discussed about one year ago.

The company is expanding its Tremor multimedia speaker line with new products with an entry-level price of $39.99.
