Apple announced earlier this month that 100,000 people have subscribed to its new .Mac Internet services network that was introduced in July.
Sina Tamaddon, Apple's senior VP for applications, said the service is attracting 1,000 new subscribers per day willing to pay $99.95 annually for access to the service. Members have access to 100MB of online storage space, photo hosting and all of the functionality that is contained with iTools, Apple's current Internet service site, which will be phased out today.
Members can expect the site to be continually upgraded with new services. One of the first will come this month when iCal becomes available as a free download. It is a calendar application that allows appointments to be segmented so consumers can juggle work, family and other schedules. The application overlays the different schedules on one calendar so conflicts can be easily seen.
