LAS VEGAS — European supplier Volfoni
introduced at International CES a
pair of 3D glasses that are said to work
with both active and passive 3D TVs.
The company is calling its Activeyes
line “the world’s first totally universal
eyewear, compatible with all active and
passive 3DTVs and PC monitors currently
available on the market.”
The glasses feature a two-piece solution,
composed of passive glasses
and a dongle that drives an active-shutter
mode. The glasses weigh just more than 1 ounce.
The glasses were demonstrated in
the company’s booth, along with two
other models optically optimized for
3D TVs or PC monitors.
“We are excited to showcase our
innovative Activeyes patent-pending
product at this year’s CES,” said Thierry
Henkinet, Volfoni president. “Activeyes
is truly universal and intelligent eyewear.
They are compatible with all 3D TV sets,
PC monitors and most movie theaters
and you can wear them outside.”
Volfoni introduced its Edge 1.0 active-
shutter glasses for the professional
market in September. Activeyes is
the company’s first consumer product.
