LAS VEGAS — Verbatim is showing
its Store ‘n’ Go SuperSpeed USB 3.0
compact portable hard drive in storage
capacities of 500GB, 750GB and 1TB.
The 3.0 bus-powered drives are backwardly
compatible with USB 2.0 ports
and feature piano-black finish, Nero
BackItUp & Burn software for Windows,
a free 5G trial of Norton Online Backup
and a seven-year limited warranty.
“We’re excited to introduce the Store
‘n’ Go, the first portable hard drive in
Verbatim’s USB 3.0 collection, and allow
consumers to experience a significant
improvement in data transfer speeds that
will let them complete their tasks in a
fraction of the time,” said Charles Klinker,
Verbatim’s HDD products marketing VP.
“With the Store ‘n’ Go, users can seamlessly
enter into the new generation of
USB 3.0 and safely and reliably share,
store and back up their data anytime,
anywhere.”
Also new from the company is the
Store ‘n’ Go Clip-it USB drive. The lightweight
4GB device snaps onto documents,
folders and envelopes like a paperclip
and is available in pink, green,
blue, orange and black. It is light enough
that no additional postage is needed
when sent along with paper documents
in the mail.
Designed by award-winning Berlinbased
product/industrial designer Arman
Emami, the Clip-it has earned a
Red Dot Design Award.
The drives retail for $19.99 and began
shipping last month.
The company also is demonstrating
its new MediaShare Mini, a simple home
networking solution that makes any USB
drive and its files network accessible.
By plugging in the MediaShare Mini,
connecting the unit to a home router
through the included Ethernet cable
and attaching any external storage device,
USB or flash drive to the unit, files
automatically become network accessible.
Likewise, all content stored on
a drive connected to MediaShare Mini
can be shared and streamed or accessed
remotely through the device in
a variety of ways.
For instance, users can remotely
upload, download and manage files,
as well as view photos, play music and
watch videos from the Internet; create
albums using any file type as well
as send email links friends to view or
download; access files through from
a smartphone; upload photos directly
to social-networking sites; stream
music and photos through any Internet-
connected gaming console or any
DLNA-compliant digital media adapter;
and upload music to connected
drives and stream to iTunes clients.
Up to four drives can be connected
to the device.
“With more than 18 million external
hard drives expected to be shipped this
year, coupled with the increasing need
for users to be able to access and share
their content whenever and wherever
they are, the MediaShare Mini is the perfect
solution for helping people manage
their digital life in the most efficient possible
way,” said Verbatim product manager
Ron Hanafin. “Whether it’s retrieving files
remotely, streaming iTunes music or uploading
photos directly onto Facebook,
the MediaShare Mini is the must-have
tool for today’s connected consumer.”
The MediaShare Mini comes with a
three-year warranty and is available for
a suggested retail of $89.99 at major
retailers.
