Thomson Ties Cabling To HDTV Performance

New from Thomson's Connectivity Business Unit, and announced at an International CES press conference, here, is a group of sophisticated premium cables being sold under the Acoustic Research brand. Combining advanced engineering and construction, the cables are compatible with multiple brands of HDTV. These come in three groupings — Master Series, Pro II and Performance lines.

Master Series HDMI cables include the 3-foot MS284 at $174.95 suggested retail, 6-foot MS285 at $209.95, 12-foot MS286 at $259.95, and 25-foot MS287 at $339.95.

DVI cables are the MS297 at 6 feet for $144.5, the 12-foot MS298 at $194.95, and the MS200 at $309.95.

The Pro II Series models include three adapters for high-definition connectivity — the PR480 at a suggested $54.95, for connection with HDMI and DVI components; PR481 HDMI to DVI adapter cable, also $54.95; and the PR485 adapter that enables two lengths of DVI cables to be joined together, for a suggested $44.95.

The Pro II Series also features the PR136 6-foot 5.1 SACD/DVDA audio cable designed to specifically address current and anticipated requirements of SACD and DVDA surround sound A/V equipment standards, in order to achieve the manufacturer's intended level of performance. Suggested retail is $109.95.

Pro II HDMI cables, from Indianapolis-based Thomson's accessory unit, include the 3-foot PR184 at a suggested $74.95, the 6-foot PR185 at $94.95 and the 12-foot PR186 a $119.95.

Pro II DVI cables include the 6-foot PR197 at $74.95 and 12-foot PR198 at $94.95.

Performance Series models include two HDMI cables: the 12-foot AP086 at $84.95, and the 6-foot AP085 at $74.95. Two DVI cables include the 12-foot AP098 at $74.95, and the 6-foot AP097 at $54.95.

Also available in the Pro II Series is the AP088 HDMI to DVI adapter, at $44.95 suggested retail, and the 6-foot AP036 5.1 audio cable for SACD/DVDA at $54.95.
