MONTREAL — Sonomax and Altec Lansing announced they were partnering to outfit Altec’s headphones with Sonomax’s SonoFit technology.
SonoFit is a patented disposable custom fitting system for in-ear headphones.
“Altec Lansing is licensing the Sonofit technology to bring custom-fit to an affordable level,” an Altec spokesperson told TWICE. Products should begin shipping this summer.
The devices will feature branding from both companies. Specific SKU and pricing info wasn’t available at this time.
When asked if Sonomax will be partnering with any other headphones manufacturers, Nick Laperle, Sonomax CEO, said, “One day, we hope that consumers will want custom ear buds instead of generic and this will be available on all earphones, but for now we are limiting SonoFit to a select few.”
“This technology is a great fit for Altec Lansing’s brand,” Raleigh Wilson, co-president of Altec Lansing, said in a statement. “We are already very active in the earphone market on a global scale, and are happy to add SonoFit to our product line. We’re excited to offer our global customers a listening experience custom-fit to their needs.”
This TWICE webinar, hosted by senior editor Alan Wolf, will take a look at what may be the hottest CE products at retail that will be sold during the all-important fourth quarter. Top technologies, market strategies and industry trends will be discussed with industry analysts and executives.
