SonicGear launched i-steroid and i-steroid radio, called by the company the world's first PC and iPod-based vacuum tube multimedia speaker system and radio speaker system.

The Singapore-based company, part of the Singapore Pavilion at the International CES this month, is also marketing a series of “new and innovative” speakers designed for distribution in the global marketplace. These include the Morro, Evo and Ego series of multimedia speakers and 2Go portable speakers for MP3 players and iPods.

The i-steroid, i-steroid 2 and i-steroid radio are compatible with both iPod and conventional audio sources. The series of vacuum tube personal audio systems offer audio clarity and power, coupled with lifestyle design.

Both the i-steroid 1 and its big brother i-steroid 2 come with an iPod-styled wireless remote control. Suggested retails are $99 for the 1 and $129 for the 2.

The i-steroid 1 radio provides AM and FM reception and features an ultra-sensitive tuning dial that allows minute control of channel selection. Suggested retail is $149.

The Morro speakers provide a balance of elegance, economy and efficiency, said SonicGear. The Morro 220 is a high-quality 2.0 system; the 321 is an entry-level 2.1 system and the 521 is a power-packed system.

The 2Go is a series of portable speakers and docking stations for MP3 players, iPod and other audio sources. Newly launched is the i5000, which features 2.1 audio performance and is said to be one of the first iPod docking stations that is compatible with the full range of iPods, including the nano, 30G and 60G with video.

The 2Go i7000 is a slim, portable docking station for iPod, MP3 and MP4 players and notebooks.
