Sennheiser Headset Optimized For Macs

Sennheiser is introducing M145, a computer/multimedia headset specifically optimized for users of Apple’s Macintosh family of desktop and portable systems. The highly adaptable headset combines hi-fi stereo headphones with a hands-free, noise-canceling “boomlet” microphone in a plug-and-play package for use with any Apple and Mac operating system up to and including the OSX 10.4 Tiger.

M145 features include a supplied, dedicated USB adapter with built-in sound card electronics that ensures full, near-studio-quality audio — both input and output — regardless of the audio sub-system present in the host desktop or laptop computer. The adapter exploits independent input and output connectors on standard “mini” stereo plugs, permitting the M145 to function equally well as simple, high-fi headphones when so desired, and with Sennheiser quality, said the company.

The M145 has an adjustable bending mike boomlet that carries a high-performance focused unidirectional element, with noise-canceling electronics. Suggested retail is $120, and the headset was to be available this summer.
