Sennheiser will come to International CES with news of a new partnership and more than 22 SKUs of earphones.
The company will use the show to announce a partnership with Adidas, the fruits of which will be several new sports earphones. In all of the models, powerful and robust dynamic loudspeaker systems guarantee excellent, motivating sound, said Sennheiser. The volume can be adjusted by using the volume control integrated into the cable, and the materials are designed to be sturdy and hard-wearing so the earphones are insensitive to vibration and even the toughest use.
Fiber-reinforced cables remain flexible at temperatures as low as minus 10 degrees, according to the company, and a new protection system against moisture effectively repels sweat and protects the internal components of the earphones against rain water, Sennheiser said. The devices can be rinsed under the tap after a particularly difficult workout.
All of the earphones also feature various ergonomically designed ear pieces. For the MX 680 stereo earphones, Sennheiser's patent-pending EarFin holding system ensures that the ear pieces fit securely and comfortably in the ear. A simple twist fixes the innovative “fin” to the outer ear. Ear adapters and various fin sizes are included.
The CX 680 ear canal earphones are also fitted with the new EarFin system and come with various ear adapters.
Adjustable ear clips and a special ear-fitting system with three different adapters are meant to provide the OMX 680 with a secure fit. The ear clips are made of a flexible material and offer optimum wearing comfort, according to Sennheiser.
The PMX 680 single-sided cable is meant to offer freedom of movement while jogging or working out. These earphones will be available this month. Suggested retails are as follows: MX 680, $79.95; OMX 680, $79.95; PMX 680, $79.95; and CX 680, $119.
Sennheiser will also be launching an array of new earphones at CES, including the CX 980, MX 980 and OMX 980. All three of these models are finished in metal and are scheduled to ship this month.
Other earphones being debuted at the show include the MX 880 stereo earphones, CX 870 and CX 880 ear-canal earphones, and ergonomic OCX 880.
