Screen Research announced a series of product upgrades to its line of home-theater projector screens.
The company added some modifications to its X-Mask and C-Mask screen solutions which feature the company's proprietary acoustically transparent ClearPix2 screen material.
Screen Research has applied a black border mask close to the edges of both screen models that offers both cosmetic and performance improvements by creating sharper image edges and increased perceived image ratio for the viewer, according to the company.
Screen Research also debuted a more elegant frame design for the C-Mask that brings it in line with the more upscale frame of the top-of-the-line X-Mask models. C-Mask's new lateral masking system is engineered so that side masks descend and ascend together, which, according to the company, enhances the cinematic experience when switching between video content with varying aspect ratios.
A new full-closure masking option for the X-Mask allows lateral masking to fully cover the screen when it is not in use. Full-closure masking provides greater flexibility in properly reproducing content filmed in less common native formats, while providing greater protection to the screen.
Screen Research also unveiled aesthetic upgrades that offer more options for customization to complement a room's design. A new decorative tailor-made leather frame finish option features a flush-fit 45-degree miter-cut fabric joint and corner framing to produce cleaner, non-overlapping corner joints. The new finish offers a range of leather frame options in 36 colors.
Another new option for all Screen Research screen solutions that utilize horizontal masking systems is a high-definition decorative screen cover. Its curtain-like mask can be customized to feature an image of the owner's choice reproduced in a high-resolution print. When in use, the personalized image is concealed; when the system is powered down, the curtain slides into place, replacing the blank screen with the HD art.
The new options will be available in December.
