Savant Systems Adds Apple Telephony App

INDIANAPOLIS —

Savant Systems, which delivered
one of the first Apple-based home-automation
and commercial control systems, is showing
here at CEDIA Expo an Apple telephony solution,
Control Plus.

Using Savant’s TrueControl app, sold separately,
Savant’s scalable telephony solution is
based upon the Savant PBX Server and delivers
full-duplex communication capabilities. The Savant
PBX supports up to 72 end points, including
app-enabled iPads, iPhones and iPod Touches,
all capable of making internal and external local,
long-distance and international calls via a wired or
wireless Savant Control Plus phone system.

Savant Telephony responds to automation and
control events, providing users with customizable
communication, automation and control in a single
architecture, the company said. For example,
Control Plus can automatically lower whole-house
music when receiving incoming calls; auto-answer
calls; or initiate a page-all sequence to communicate
with gate access points.

“We wanted to expand the products and services
we offer to our residential and commercial
dealers and Savant Telephony provides increased
opportunity in a very elegant package,” said Savant
CEO Robert Madonna. “Through the development
of a feature-rich SIP client, Savant engineers
took great care to transform the iPod Touch
and iPad into versatile wireless handsets rich with
the added benefits of complete control functionality
as well as the countless apps available from the
Apple App Store,” Madonna concluded.

Savant also offers an optional Public Announcement
System (PAS-1000), which integrates
into the Savant family of distributed audio
solutions. The PAS-1000 unites the functions of a
telephone with a high-performance digital amplifier
for paging, broadcasting announcements and
supplying background music to assigned rooms
or entire floors.

The system supports entry access viewing and
communication with door and gateway intercoms;
long-distance and international calling; room-toroom
paging and page-all functions; line sharing,
which allows a user to join in any active line and
participate in two-way conversations; voice mail
with message-waiting indication; auto answer;
and do-not-disturb mute holding.

Savant is in booth 4825.
