Philips is offering a rechargeable battery/adapter, model R14B2A245, where users are offered an “innovative” solution that allows the use of an AA battery in a C-size application, without actually having to buy the special and more expensive C battery size.
The two-in-one adapter offers an “easy” method to “change” an AA battery into a C-size battery, said Philips. The C-adapter package, a Philips Multi-Life-brand product, includes a picture of the two-in-one 2450 mAh 1.2-volt AA-size cell fitting into a C cell.
The AA battery is powerful enough for cameras, and with a C-size adapter also can be used in C-size products such as radios and toys.
The nickel metal-hydride technology allows recharging up to 1,000 times and makes replacement of batteries almost unnecessary, said the company.
Suggested retail for the adapter is $9.99 and availability is July.
