Maxell Corp. of America has launched a new DVD packaging design for its entire DVD line, including DVD+R, which contains information hierarchy emphasizing brand, DVD format, capacity and writing speed.
Maxell's design strategy is further enhanced by a "dynamic" new color system intended to make format selection easier, while providing a family look that supports the overall brand communication. The color system utilizes vibrant purple packaging to designate +R.
On the back of the new packaging, the company has designed a comprehensive icon-based information panel that features descriptions of recording and playback compatibility along with graphs depicting recording times in various playback modes and hardware compatibility. The back panel also highlights Maxell's live toll free 24/7/365 technical support hotline, which is said to be market leading and an industry first.
The packaging also includes Maxell's Man-In-The-Chair icon, which links it to other company consumer product franchises.
The DVD+R discs can record up to 4.7GB of data, audio or video, with video capacity of 120 or 240 minutes, depending on recording mode. The media features 1x-4x write speeds and random access data retrieval.
Maxell's DVD+R discs are compatible with second generation DVD+RW/R drives and recorders, and can be read by DVD-ROM, DVD-Audio and DVD-Video playback devices.
Suggested retail for the DVD+R 4x is $4.99. The entire line (including camcorder media) is priced from $4.99 to $24.99.
