Introduction of an AC/DC digital camera power adapter has enabled Maxell to expand its total digital camera energy portfolio. Called the AC 3000, the universal adapter is designed to harness AC or DC power in order to operate digital cameras during stationary activities such as uploading pictures from the camera to a computer. Also, the AC 3000 will charge the batteries of cameras that have that adaptability.
The universal adapter includes seven camera power tips that make it compatible with all the major camera brands. This means “retailers can stock one product that solves most of their customers' needs,” said Armando Silva, Maxell's product manager for consumer battery products. “Its worldwide voltage capabilities and travel adapters allow consumers to use it virtually anywhere in the world.” It also provides an alternative source of power during the image uploading function, extending battery life, Silva said.
The AC 3000 is compatible with digital cameras from Sony, Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Kodak, Casio, Olympus, Toshiba and similar models. It features a retractable plug for ease of transport and a color LED voltage and polarity indicator. Suggested retail is $39.99.
