Logitech Adds Night-Vision Camera To Alert Line

NEW YORK — Logitech has added
an indoor night-vision security camera
to its HomePlug-based Alert line of
home-security-in-a-box products.
The Logitech Alert 750n indoor
master system ships with a 4GB
memory card that stores snapshots
or video; free software and an app
allows remote viewing and email or
SMS text alert messaging on any PC,
smartphone or tablet.
A plus subscription can be added,
for $79 a year, that allows live viewing
of the camera and up to five other nor
i-series Logitech Alert cameras on
the user’s network, as well as viewing
archived footage.
The camera records 960 by 720
HD color video at 15 fps and has a
130-degree wide viewing angle. The night vision
works in complete darkness -- the company demonstrated
the camera in a closed desk drawer -- and the
video feed showed a bright black and white image
without the green tint or glowing effects of traditional
night-vision video.
The camera has motion-triggered recording and
can be set up to send notifications to an email address
or text account. The user can specify up to 16
motion-detection zones within the frame by clicking
and dragging on the frame in the software setup.
The master system retails for $300, and a separate
SKU of the night-vision camera is offered as an
add-on option, with a $230 retail price.
