Ladies Targeted By New Targus Notebook Storage

It was “ladies day” at International CES here earlier this month, when Targus introduced a number of portable storage cases marketed directly at women.

The company’s Beemer line of notebook cases features a “unique” two-tone nylon fabrication and soft pink suede-like lining in four “fashionable” silhouettes. Availability is March.

The Beemer messenger, model TLM006US at a suggested $49.99 retail, is designed to protect notebooks with screen sizes up to 15 inches. A front-pocket workstation offers a notebook compartment with petal-pink faux suede lining, removable business card holder and a compartment for files, cellphone and PDA.

The Beemer top-load, model TLT030US, offers quick and easy access to a notebook compartment for airport security removal. It handles screens up to 15 inches and includes a security strap to protect the notebook during travel. Suggested retail is $59.99.

The Beemer backpack, model TLB005US at $69.99, includes a front flap with a business card holder, key clip, pen loops, an airline ticket pocket and a padded inside compartment for up to 15.4-inch-notebook screens. It includes “hide-away” backpack straps and removable shoulder strap.

The Beemer slipcase, model TLS008US, holds 15-inch-notebook screens and offers an interior slip pocket and security strap to hold the notebook during travel. It has oversized pockets for additional accessories and mobile devices such as a cellphone and PDA. Suggested retail is $39.99.

Another product from Anaheim, Calif.-based Targus pointed toward women is the company’s Getta ladies camera cases in backpack, messenger and small digital camera-case models. These feature “attractive” silver hardware detail and color detail. Availability is March.

“Our market research has shown that women want functionality and fashion from their accessories,” said Michael Grecco, U.S. product marketing director. “The Getta is designed to appeal to that sense of practicality and style. The choice of styles and silver buckle design details of the Getta line appeal to women who are looking for a fashionable alternative to the boxy camera cases currently available, while providing superior protection and durability,” he said.

The Getta backpack, model TPB001US at a suggested $34.99 retail and 1.2 pounds, fits all models of small and large digital cameras and camcorders, and features a padded interior compartment.

The messenger, model TVT020US, is designed to fit most large and small-to-medium camcorders. It has a false bottom with a rear zipper for out-of-the-way cable storage. Suggested retail is $24.99.

The Getta small digital camera case, model TPT020US, fits most small digital cameras. It weighs 3 ounces, has a wrist strap and offers a $12.99 suggested retail.

Elegant designs and smart features allow women to express some personal style, while holding all of the business necessities, at affordable prices, said Targus about its new Getta notebook cases. Availability date was not listed.

The backpack, model TLB004US, is said to be perfect for the “overpacker” and features a side-loading design for fast and easy access. It is designed for up to 15-inch-screen sizes and includes a drawstring opening and light colored lining. Suggested retail is $69.

The Getta tote, model TLT029US, also is designed for ease of access and offers a protective padded laptop compartment for screens up to 15.4 inches. Interior storage includes pockets for a PDA, cellphone, pens and ID. Suggested retail is $59.99.

The slipcase, model TLS007US at a suggested $39.99 retail, includes soft curves, professional aesthetic and emphasis on lightweight materials. The case holds up to 15-inch screens and includes a security strap to keep a notebook securely in place.
