The Xantrex XPower Micro Inverter 175 makes the inconveniences and expenses of multiple DC adapters for mobile electronics a thing of the past, said the company.

The new compact unit plugs into a car lighter socket and provides 175 watts of electricity to run and recharge electronic devices, such as laptops, cellphones, small televisions, camcorders and PDAs.

Said to be the only 175-watt, plug-in inverter on the market, the unit incorporates high-frequency technology to convert power from an auto's 12-volt DC battery into standard 110-volt AC, 60Hz utility power.

The Xantrex unit offers a single, three-prong connection for running and recharging electrical devices. Instead of special DC chargers, users can plug the same AC charger used at home into the Micro Inverter 175. It has built-in low battery voltage and overload shutdown protection.

Suggested retail is $44.99.
