PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. — iLuv Creative Technology introduced a line of docks and cases for tablet PCs and smartphones intended for those who use their devices as a business workstation.

The new WorkStation series, designed for the Apple iPad/iPhone/ Touch and Samsung Galaxy Tab universes, is topped by the flagship iMM737, the WorkStation Dock, a docking station with a wired keyboard, and an adjustable tilting, rotating device bracket. The keyboard features dedicated Apple function keys, and it tucks away into the base when not in use.

The step-up iMM517 WorkStation Pro substitutes a Bluetooth keyboard and adds a stereo speaker base with proprietary jAura sound technology built in.

The new iCK826 and 1SK912 Work- Station Portfolios are folio jackets for the iPad and Galaxy Tab, respectively, with a detachable Bluetooth “laptopstyle” keyboard, model iBTKB20, which is also available on its own, separately.

iLuv marketing director Pia Chon said of the new line, “Tablets and smartphones are no longer devices used exclusively for entertainment. For many, these smart devices have become the primary systems for both work and leisure activities — and that’s a trend that will continue in the future. iLuv recognizes the clear and growing need for solutions designed to unlock the full potential of mobile computing devices, both from a leisure and a productivity standpoint.”

Chon cited market research that showed 75 percent of tablet users have increased their mobile device usage over traditional laptop or desktop computers, spending more than five hours a day on work-related activities such as emailing and web research, for example. One in three tablet users spend more time using their tablet than watching TV, Chon said.

Prices range from $49.99 for the keyboard to $179 for the WorkStation Pro. The line became available last week, with the iMM737 WorkStation Dock shipping to select retailers in November.
