iKey introduced an industrial keyboard with Bluetooth technology last month, hailing the BT-87-TP as the industry's "first fully sealed, wireless industrial keyboard with an integrated touchpad."
Engineered to be dust-proof and submersible, the keyboard comes with an integrated touchpad and 87 keys, including 12 function keys. Joel East, iKey business development, said the keyboard does not require a Bluetooth dongle or external receiver.
Its compact design — the BT-87-TP measures 12 inches by 7.75 inches by 2 inches — is meant for easy portability, as well as allowing it to be mounted in rugged situations. The keyboard has an ABS polycarbonate case with a silicon rubber key overlay. It can also be used with enclosure-housed computers and machines that are separated by a barrier for safety, security, or environmental reasons, said iKey. It operates using two AA batteries.
Suggested retail is $495, and the BT-87-TP expected to become available in limited qualities this month.
