SALT LAKE CITY — DigiTech, a Harman
brand, recently took the wraps off its iStomp
pedal, meant for use with Apple devices.
The iStomp pedal (currently shipping for a
$229 suggested retail) connects to an iPod
Touch, iPhone or iPod using the included
Smart Cable. After the app is downloaded,
users can purchase effects for the iStomp.
Two effects are included with the initial purchase:
the DigiTech Total Recall Delay and
the DigiTech Redline Overdrive. Effects can
also be tried out for up to five minutes.
The iStomp pedal was designed with four
knobs to control effects parameters, which
change their function according to which effect
is loaded, DigiTech said.
About 24 pedals will be offered initially, it
said, for $4.99 each. The selection will reportedly
be expanded to include exclusive
pedals from DigiTech, officially licensed pedals
from other manufacturers, and classic
legacy DigiTech and DOD products.
Users will also be to authorize multiple iStop
pedals to the same iTunes account, so
they will be able to load an effect onto any
iStomp pedal that’s registered to them, according
to the company.
