Gemini 'PROmotes' New Remote

CLIFTON, N.J. -Looking to raise the bar for its consumer electronics accessories products, Gemini Industries is introducing an "innovative" remote control that is programmable via the Internet and a user's computer monitor-without any cable connections.

Called PROmote, Gemini said the remote can be programmed off the Internet in 2.5 seconds, right from the computer screen. Users need only log on to the website, then select the components they wish PROmote to control from a list featuring virtually every brand and model manufactured today.

When all component selections have been made, users point PROmote at the necessary programming codes into the remote's infrared scanners. The unit is then fully programmed. When users update their audio and video equipment, they can return to the website.

"The beauty of PROmote," said Sherman Langer, Gemini's senior VP of sales and marketing, "is that it completely eliminates the frustrating hassles of programming and reprogramming remote controls. Together with the Internet, Gemini's patented technology does the entire job."

A key convenience, since PROmote is able to control the functions of so many distinct manufacturer components, is that technology resides on the website to record and remember user profiles, making future equipment upgrading and reprogramming easier, said Gemini.

The wireless programming capabilities are another advantage for PROmote, the company said, giving it a distinct edge because it is the only solution that virtually programs itself wirelessly, right off the computer screen.

Suggested retail for the PROmote is $59.99, and availability is September.

PROmote is one of a number of new products Gemini has introduced as part of a marketing spirit trumpeted by the slogan, "Making Accessories Vital Necessities."

With the company focusing on superior innovation in design, function and affordability, other debuts include such patented and exclusive products as Q3, the "world's only expandable and fully customizable" surge-protection system, and the Simply Surround System, which creates home-theater-style, room-filling surround sound using existing stereo components.

"Our new strategy," said Langer, "will drive the production of a whole new breed of consumer electronics accessories, products unlike any others available today, products that we believe consumers will consider vital, must-have solutions."
