DigiPower is debuting its Ultra Fast Rapid Charger for digital cameras and camcorders. It features a pop-up plug said to fit virtually any electrical socket in the world, enabling travelers to forego cumbersome and antiquated wall-plug adapter kits.

Designed to charge lithium-ion batteries in one hour, the charger has no cords or wires to break or tangle after repeated use. It covers 80 percent to 90 percent of all digital camera brands, said DigiPower.

The charger is available in four models, and the Ultra Fast Rapid Charger line can accommodate 14 different kinds of rechargeable battery packs, including styles from most camera makers, as well as DigiPower's own offerings.

Over 80 percent of the digital cameras on the market today are supported, said DigiPower, including models from Canon, Casio Fuji, Kodak, Minolta, Nikon, Panasonic, Pentax, Ricoh, Sony and Toshiba.

The highly portable charger plugs directly into the wall and features a foldaway plug that fits a multiple of outlets. Users simply flip up the foldaway plug and the charger will fit into outlets requiring rounded prongs. The standard prongs also rotate to fit angled outlets, while folding all plugs down enables the unit to be easily packed into a suitcase or day bag, said the company.

The charger, which began shipping earlier this summer, has a suggested $39.99 retail.
