ROCKLEIGH, N.J. – Crestron unveiled a waterproof remote control that can be used in hot tubs or hospitals.

The disc-shaped, aptly named UFO waterproof remote can float and is geared toward outdoor environments, such as use around pools, hot tubs or yachts. It measures 1.3 by 5.1 inches and weighs 9 ounces.

Alternatively, the remote can be used in hospitals and operating rooms since it can also be submerged in sanitizing liquid. The UFO is completely submersible at depths up to 10 feet, according to the company.

Features include an active-matrix 2.8-inch color LCD display, customizable menus with full-color icons, a rugged and rubberized outer skin, and 2.4GHz RF technology.

The range is listed at 200 feet indoors, and this can be extended to 1,000 feet outdoors with the optional extended range RF wireless gateway.

It’s priced at $1,500.
