COMPTON, CALIF. -Belkin Components has joined the home connectivity revolution with Signal Point, a complete line of high-end products that provides the infrastructure to support integration of all voice/data/video/signaling necessary for modern digital communication.

The line, which is designed for do-it-yourselfers, is available through retail stores, the Internet and mail order.

Belkin said the Signal Point system allows homeowners to upgrade existing home cabling and achieve 100-Mbps home-PC networking, whole-home audio distribution, high-speed Internet-connection sharing, video networking, whole-home IR product control, and low-cost video monitoring.

A Signal Point Starter Kit, which is available, includes the necessary connectivity components for up to four rooms. Suggested retail is $599.

According to Belkin, Signal Point delivers freedom to play DVDs in the living room and watch them on any television in the house; added bandwidth to support digital telephone services; wireless keyboard access to the CPU from any television or computer; remote control of all stereo components from any room; monitoring of outdoor visitors and any room; simultaneous fax and phone; Web surfing while another family member sends an e-mail; and music in any room in the house.
