Allsop Unveils Photo CD, iPod Accessories

Allsop is introducing photo CD accessories, as well as products for Apple's iPod and designer mousepads during International CES here.

The new photo CD maintenance line includes Clear View, a new tool for cleaning lenses and other sensitive surfaces, plus a photo CD scratch repair kit, photo CD fast wipes, digital camera cloth and photo disc sleeves.

Clear View ensures lenses, LCD screens and other sensitive surfaces are kept clean. Designed like a pen, it features a retractable dust brush on one end and a micro fiber tip for cleaning LCD screens on the other. Clear View is also ideal for cleaning cellphones, video cameras and other sensitive electronics, Allsop said. The unit, which comes with 10 replacement microfiber tips, is available for a $11.99 suggested retail. Clear View is available for immediate shipment.

The photo CD scratch repair kit from the Bellingham, Wash.-based company is designed for spot repair of scratches. It's simple to use: just a dollop of solution and a bit of rubbing will easily fix most blemishes, said Allsop. The photo CD scratch repair kit retails for a suggested $12.99 and will ship in March.

Photo CD fast wipes are lint-free textured wipes that grab dirt, sweat and fingerprints and lift them off the CD to leave a clean surface. These are available for a $4.99 suggested retail and are available for shipment in March.

The digital camera cloth is a densely woven synthetic chamois that feels like suede and consists of lint-free micro fiber cleaning cloth that has a textured surface to act like little fingers to grab dirt, sweat and fingerprints, lifting them away. Washable for use again and again, the digital camera cloth retails for a suggested price of $4.99, and is currently available.

Users can protect and share CDs and DVDs with photo disc sleeves which are made of acid-free, archival quality paper. Photo disc sleeves help keep discs in order and protect them from scratches while storing. They are available for a suggested retail of $9.99 for a package of 50 and are available now.

The new photo CD gift envelope features a protective pocket for a CD or DVD, plus a 4-inch by 6-inch window insert to display a photo print. A message or greeting can be written above the photo. Available in midnight blue, cream or metallic lavender, the photo CD gift envelope is pretty enough to serve as gift wrapping, but sturdy enough to be mailed, Allsop said.

Reusable, the photo CD gift envelope folds shut. When closed it is 5 inches by 6.1 inches and 0.13 inches deep, and it can be mailed with a disc and photo print with $0.60 postage. It is sold in a three-pack with a suggested retail of $4.99.

For iPod users, Allsop has developed Slick Skins that are designed to protect and personalize iPod portable digital audio players. The printed vinyl covers cling to the body of an iPod to protect it from scratches and scuffs, while customizing it with a bold sense of style and expression. Available for immediate shipment, the suggested retail is $9.99.

And Allsop is introducing Image mousepads that can make “a personality statement or a seasonal expression” said Brett Allsop, marketing and sales VP.

Among the images are costumed babies that grace the black and white photographs of Erin Drallos on the Heartstrings collection; the Hanadeka (“big nose” in Japanese) collection, which features zany close-ups of household pets that appear to be pushing their noses up to the camera lens; and in the spirit of vintage pin-ups, the Vices collection that features Ralph Burch images that reach out to an adult audience with fun illustrations of poker, cocktails, martinis and red-hot 1940s-style fashion and poses.

The pads are available for January shipment at a $7.99 suggested retail.
