A glowing blue border differentiates the new Stellar EFX mousepad, made by Allsop, from more conventional mouse pads.
Designed for gaming enthusiasts, mainly, the EFX invites gaming enthusiasts to turn down the lights and bring the excitement of gaming into their rooms, said Allsop.
Four bright blue LEDs, powered by the computer's USB port, light the mousepad's bubbled acrylic border with a diffused glow for the ultimate gaming experience.
In targeting the gaming segment, Allsop said its strategy is to open up higher margin opportunities for retailers. The company said it is the first supplier to sell a mousepad for $20 retail, based on style alone.
Allsop has expanded its mousepad line with features such as glowing LED lights, textured gaming surfaces, the look of leather, solid metal frames and ergonomic memory foam.
Brett Allsop, sales and marketing VP, said, “Most of the mousepad category is sinking into lower prices and lower margins. But with margins dropping on so many bigger ticket items, retailers rely on accessories for higher margins and add-on sales. The mousepad is one of those categories where virtually anyone can splurge on the high end, creating a strong profit opportunity.”
The Stellar EFX, one of over 40 mousepads in the Allsop line, has a $34.99 suggested retail.
